Gina D’Amato

Dr. Gina D’Amato, M.D. is the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Treatment Unit, Assistant Director of Clinical Research, Sarcoma Medical Oncologist, and Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. Dr. D’Amato received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Miami and her M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami.
In 2003, during her last year of a hematology/oncology fellowship at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, Dr. D’Amato began to focus on sarcomas. Her mentors were world-renowned sarcoma experts from the leading sarcoma centers, including Dr. Trent, who was early in his career but already extremely successful. In addition to her clinical service, Dr. D’Amato continues to be extensively involved in Phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials on sarcomas sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and industry partners. A committed educator, Dr. D’Amato is Co-Director of the Oncology Pathway and a Pathology/Oncology integrative science selective in a newly implemented educational curriculum for the Miller School of Medicine. She is also the Medical Director for Sylvester patient education and nurse practitioner oncology programs and the Administrator of the Horowitz Solitary Fibrous Tumor Initiative Fund
Dr. D’Amato is the author or co-author of more than 25 peer-reviewed academic publications on medical oncology and sarcoma and connective tissue medical oncology and serves as a reviewer for multiple academic journals, such as Cancer Medicine and Clinical Cancer Research. Dr.
D’Amato has also received multiple research grant awards from the National Institutes of Health, including a prestigious Career Development Award from 2002-2005. Dr. D’Amato is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Leighton Elliott

Dr. Elliott is an Assistant Professor on the tenure track for the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics in the University of Florida College of Medicine and serves as the Director of the Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program. Prior to medical school, Dr. Elliott completed training in biomedical engineering which prepared him to think uniquely about solutions to the cancer problem. He completed his residency training in a combined internal medicine and pediatrics program at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA and is board certified in both specialties. Dr. Elliott is a translational physician-scientist whose lab focuses on novel immunotherapy development and discovery science characterizing mechanisms of immune modulation. Optimizing care for fusion-driven sarcomas using mRNA therapies is Dr. Elliott’s priority. He also aims to improve care of recurrent localized disease through innovative solutions such as magnetic hyperthermia via radiotherapeutics. As a sarcoma medical oncologist, Dr. Elliott thrives to rapidly translate preclinical discoveries to the clinic while engaging in cooperative group clinical trials, collaborating with pediatric and medical oncologists around the globe.


Daniel Indelicato

Dr. Indelicato is a tenured Professor and Associate Vice Chair of the University of Florida Department of Radiation Oncology. He currently holds the William and Joan Mendenhall Endowed Professorship and directs the University of Florida pediatric and sarcoma radiotherapy programs. He was named a Fellow of the British Royal College of Radiology in 2023 and a Fellow of the American Society of Radiation Oncology in 2024. An established cancer researcher, he is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group Bone Tumor Steering Committee and has contributed to authorship of over 10 book chapters and 225 articles in respected medical journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology, Cancer, The International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, and The International Journal of Particle Therapy.


Alexandra Istl

Ally Istl, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Profess in Surgical Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin specializing in soft tissue sarcoma. She completed her General Surgery residency at Western University in London, Ontario, during which time she also obtained a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in biostatistics and a certificate in surgical outcomes research at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. She went on to do her Surgical Oncology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and completed an international visiting fellowship in soft tissue sarcoma surgery at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, Italy. She is an active member of the TransAtlantic Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group (TARPSWG), the Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS), the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), and the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS). Her current research focuses on novel approaches to neoadjuvant therapy for retroperitoneal and other soft tissue sarcomas, as well as equity in clinical cancer care provision and surgical education.


Emily Jonczak

Emily Jonczak, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Oncology at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she specializes in sarcoma. She has been at the University of Miami for eight years, including her training in hematology/oncology. She completed her internal medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic Florida and earned her medical degree from St. George’s University. Dr. Jonczak serves as Inpatient Medical Director for Medical Oncology and Medical Director of the Oncology Care Clinic, an outpatient urgent care for oncology patients. She is actively involved in clinical trial development, serving as principal investigator on multiple industry-sponsored, cooperative group, and Phase 1 trials, with research interests in novel sarcoma therapies, health disparities, and circulating tumor DNA.


Sarah Kaehny

Sarah Kaehny is a Clinical Research Coordinator III in the Cancer Center Clinical Trails Office at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She received her Clinical Research Professional Certification in May 2025, coordinating research primarily in Head & Neck, Skin, Sarcoma, and Thoracic cancers. Additionally, she is an active member of the Oncology Patient Council at GSK Pharmaceuticals, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, and is a lobbyist with AACI/AACR. Sarah holds a BA in Secondary Education from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, as well as BS in Health and Wellness Management from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Sarah was diagnosed with Spindle Cell Sarcoma in 2012, nine years after her father passed from Synovial Sarcoma. Her primary tumor in her left leg was diagnosed at stage 3, which was treated with radiation and surgical removal. In July 2012, the Sarcoma metastasized to both lungs, with several nodules removed from her right lung. After participating in a vaccination clinical trial, the Sarcoma reoccurred in her right lung. Following a right upper lobectomy, she was enrolled in a chemotherapy drug trial. After five years on the trial drug, she graduated from treatment in September of 2018 and is now living happily in Milwaukee, WI.


Dave Lal

Dr Lal completed his general surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison followed by fellowships in pediatric surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, advanced minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery at the University of Washington, Seattle and pediatric surgery fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Dr Lal received a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2012. Dr Lal joined the faculty in the Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in 2007. He is currently a Professor of Surgery, and the Keith T. Oldham Chair in Pediatric Surgery.
Dr Lal’s clinical and research interest include pediatric oncology, pediatric foregut disorders (including achalasia and esophageal atresia) and global surgery. Within Children’s Oncology Group, Dr. Lal is leading the development of an international protocol for the surgical treatment of neuroblastoma.

Dr. Erica M Lanser is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and the Section Chief of Musculoskeletal Radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She also serves as a the Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship Director. Erica’s interests include MSK ultrasound, Sarcoma imaging and intervention, and resident and fellow education.


Caroline Maloney

Caroline Maloney is a pediatric general and thoracic surgeon at Children’s Wisconsin and an assistant professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the department of surgery. Clinically she focuses on pediatric surgical oncology and is leading the development of a pediatric thoracic robotics program at Children’s. She has a basic/translational research lab where she studies solid tumor metastasis and investigates the mechanisms whereby surgery promotes the growth of latent metastatic disease in a model of osteosarcoma. Her current work involves understanding how surgical tumor removal alters systemic innate immune responses with hopes to identify new strategies to prevent early pulmonary relapse.


Ben Miller

Ben Miller is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Iowa specializing in orthopaedic oncology. He received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering at Cornell University before medical school at the University of Iowa, orthopaedic residency at Rush University, and fellowship in orthopaedic oncology at the University of Florida. He spent the year after residency working and volunteering in Africa and Asia and currently directs an orthopaedic oncology fellowship focused on training surgeons from under-resourced areas of the world. His research focuses on multi-institutional sarcoma registry development and improving clinical outcomes in musculoskeletal tumor surgery. He is the past president of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society.


Varun Monga

Dr. Varun Monga is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF, where he specializes in sarcomas and early-phase clinical trials. He received his medical degree from Rajiv Gandhi Medical College in Thane, India, and completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois. He then joined the University of Iowa as a hospitalist on the Hematology, Oncology, and Blood and Marrow Transplant service, before completing his Hematology/Oncology fellowship there. Dr. Monga subsequently served on the Iowa faculty for over seven years, focusing on clinical research and the care of patients with primary CNS tumors and sarcomas, before moving to UCSF in April 2023


John Mullinax

Dr. John Mullinax is an Associate Member in the Sarcoma Department and Immunology Department of Moffitt Cancer Center and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He is the Section Head of Surgical Oncology for the Sarcoma Department, Surgical Director of the Cellular Immunotherapy Program, and the Associate Program Director for the Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at Moffitt. Dr. Mullinax is board-certified in both Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Mullinax’s primary clinical focus is the surgical management of patients with soft tissue sarcoma throughout the body, to include retroperitoneal sarcoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. In addition to clinical duties, Dr. Mullinax has a laboratory focused on the immune response to soft tissue sarcoma. He is working to expand adoptive cell therapy to patients with advanced sarcoma. The work from his lab serves as the basis for a trial using tumor infiltrating lymphocytes to treat adolescent and young adult patients with advanced sarcoma. A native Floridian, he earned his MD degree with honors from the University of South Florida. He completed a General Surgery Residency in the Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida. He completed two fellowships: first a Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the Surgery Branch, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland and another in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He represents the Moffitt Sarcoma Department in the international Transatlantic-Australasian Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Workgroup (TARPSWG) and the SSO Sarcoma Disease-Site Workgroup. His research has generated awards from the Society of Immunotherapy for Cancer, the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, and Moffitt Cancer Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. Nationally, he serves as a Governor in the American College of Surgeons and is President of the American College of Surgeons, Florida Chapter.

Elham Nasri

Dr. Elham Nasri is a fellowship-trained musculoskeletal pathologist at the University of Florida specializing in the diagnosis of bone and soft tissue sarcomas. She is actively engaged in multidisciplinary sarcoma care at one of the busiest sarcoma referral centers. Her research focuses on the biology and progression of bone sarcomas, with particular emphasis on identifying prognostic biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets.
John Neilson

Dr. Neilson is board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic
Surgery and has been chosen by his peers as one of the Best Doctors in America. Dr. Neilson specializes in musculoskeletal oncology and cares for patients with a wide range of pediatric and adult musculoskeletal issues. His clinical emphases include musculoskeletal tumors, bone and soft tissue sarcomas, limb salvage surgery, minimally invasive approaches for metastatic bone disease, and osseointegration for amputee patients.
Dr. Neilson’s research interests include minimizing wound complications following sarcoma resection, identifying adequate margin status following sarcoma resections, and minimally invasive techniques to manage pelvic and sacral tumors. Additionally, Dr. Neilson has been significantly involved in medical student, resident, and fellow education at MCW.
Dr. Neilson graduated from Mount Mary College in South Dakota in 2000 and received his MD degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine in 2004. From 2004-2009, Dr. Neilson completed an internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin and served a fellowship in orthopaedic oncology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey from 2009-2010.
Dr. Neilson joined the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2010 and has worked tirelessly to help develop the F&MCW Sarcoma Program into a world class program. He is an Associate Professor and has served as Division Chief of the Musculoskeletal Oncology section at the Medical College of Wisconsin since 2017.

Emanuela Palmerini, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Medical Oncologist at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her expertise spans bone and soft tissue sarcomas, with over 20 years at IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna, where she led clinical trials and translational research. She has served as PI/co-I in 30+ sarcoma studies, including phase I studies, pioneered immunotherapy approaches, and collaborated internationally, including Rockefeller University and MSKCC. A recognized leader, she holds national academic qualification as Full Professor, serves on multiple scientific boards, and co-chairs the FOSTER Osteosarcoma Consortium. Author of 200+ publications (H-index 57), she is an invited faculty at ASCO and ESMO.


Seth Pollack

Seth M. Pollack, MD, Professor with Tenure at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, is an internationally recognized physician-scientist in cancer immunotherapy and sarcoma research. He serves as the Steven T. Rosen Professor of Cancer Biology, Director of the Sarcoma Program, and Co-Leader of the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Initiative at the Lurie Cancer Center. His work focuses on overcoming resistance to T cell–based therapies and advancing translational immuno-oncology. Dr. Pollack has led multiple investigator-initiated trials, including first-in-human NY-ESO-1 T cell studies and cytokine-based strategies. As national chair of ECOG-ACRIN’s EA7222 phase III trial, he is shaping future standards of care. His NIH and DoD–funded projects span TCR therapy, IL-12 delivery, NK-cell strategies, and the tumor microenvironment.

Her clinical practice is grounded in evidence-based, patient-centered oncology nursing, with a focus on optimizing outcomes across the cancer care continuum. Informed by both professional expertise and lived experience, Solange integrates clinical insight with patient advocacy to address gaps in education, early detection, and survivorship care. She is an active advocate for individuals affected by Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumors (TGCT) and Sarcoma, with particular emphasis on improving patient engagement, health literacy, and quality of life.


Jonathan Trent

Jonathan C. Trent, MD, PhD, focuses his clinical, educational, and research efforts on GIST, chondrosarcoma, and other sarcomas. His interests include the clinical and translational research of sarcomas, the direct care of patients with sarcoma, and education about sarcoma and patient-oriented research. As Associate Director for Clinical Research, his goal is to help Sylvester faculty develop clinical trials that provide clinically effective and scientifically exciting therapy to patients with cancer. The major efforts of Dr Trent’s research focus on understanding the mechanisms of action and resistance of imatinib in GIST and other sarcomas while striving toward improved therapeutic options. His work involves the use of novel preoperative/postoperative clinical trials, prospectively acquired tumor tissue, cell lines, and archival tissue.


Adam Wooldridge

Born and raised in Kentucky, Dr. Wooldridge graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health in 2012 from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. After completing his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2017, he went on to complete a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Oncology at the University of Florida in 2018. He joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Division of Musculoskeletal Oncology, at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2018. He currently serves as Co-Director of Medical Student Education and Clerkship Director for Orthopaedic Surgery at MCW.
